The mission of the Purple Line Art-In-Transit Program is to make public art an integral element of the transit project and to further enhance the Purple Line’s high quality station, aesthetic treatments and landscape designs. Art will be incorporated into stations as well as other project structures including bridges, fencing, lighting, etc.

Artists for the program will be selected by a multiple-stage process that will encourage professional, high-quality art projects. Over 700 artists submitted qualifications and the Purple Line Art-In-Transit Selection Committee – including representatives from the Purple Line Team, MTA, PLTP, art professionals, Maryland, Montgomery and Prince George’s County Arts’ Councils, and community members from the Purple Line Corridor – selected 80 artists to submit concept proposals.

UPDATE: The selections have been made and formal announcements are coming soon.
