It's an exciting time here at the Purple Line, as spring and summer bring even more construction -- and that means progress!

The Purple Line is a great example of transit, which is particularly relevant as we enter Earth Month. Electricity makes it go, and boy, have we got power. We reached a major milestone for the project in March, installing the first of 10 traction power substations (TPSS) in Glenridge.

Community Advisory Team (CAT) meetings are back this month, and we are holding them virtually to make it easier for you to attend and participate. Our project team is looking forward to hearing from our neighbors and businesses as we provide detailed updates on our progress and upcoming construction activities.

Happy New Year! January brings frigid temps and slowing down for some people and places. But that’s not the case for the Purple Line. The wintry weather will not hinder progress across the alignment, and plenty is happening.

With the holiday season upon us and 2023 rapidly approaching, I want to review some of the things we are most proud of from this busy year and look ahead to the New Year.

Work on the Purple Line is progressing from New Carrollton to Bethesda. A common theme that runs through this work is building bridges.

The Purple Line Corridor Coalition (PLCC) released a report Sept. 28 on the best ways to ensure equitable, sustainable and vibrant development along the project corridor.

The Purple Line has entered the next phase of construction with our new builder Maryland Transit Solutions (MTS) progressing the project all along the alignment, from New Carrollton to Bethesda. I would like to highlight some of the work happening this month.

It's been a busy summer for the project. As we ramp up construction under the direction of our new design-build contractor, Maryland Transit Solutions (MTS), we also are fielding a lot of questions from the public about the Purple Line.
